Past Sermons
At the request of many of our congregation here we publish some past sermons
“9-11”
I was at a Synod the other day and on the way home I thought how disappointing it was as it was absorbed solely with issues to do with the church. We looked at structures, organisations and offices within the church; amongst other things we discussed how we are going to address the decline in members. Worthy as that task might be, I could not help observe that the fifth anniversary of 9/11 was about to be marked across the world and that huge issues that overshadow our world remained unmentioned.

“Proud to be British”
An email arrived entitled, "Proud to be British". I found it amusing and used it as a base to reflect on life today. The sermon looks at rules for living in 21st Century Britain and explores the truth that Jesus' teachings are as relevant today as when he walked the dusty roads of Palestine.

‘Suffering’
I would like to say “thank you” to those of you who were kind enough to send me a message of condolence following the death of my father. I am deeply grateful.
The loss of a loved one is a very sad occasion which, sadly, visits each of us from time to time. But the support of family and good friends in the church has given me much support.

‘Non-conformists’
There is a lot of pressure on people to conform in today’s world. Even amongst young people, the pressure to conform is immense- trainers, clothing and even cosmetics have to be “branded”. As a result they are pressured to conform to the corporate image and logo. St Paul, sublimely unaware of Nike or Lacoste etc, reminds Christians that they should be non-conformists in every way. This sermon explores this theme.
