Children and Young People

Baptism welcomes a child or adult into the family of the church and since the Church on Fairford Leys opened for services (June 2000 in St Mary’s School) nearly 300 people have been baptised!  The majority of these have been children – we have a strong commitment to help our children to grow in the Christian faith. Activities for children and young people comprise:

Little Angels

Little AngelLittle Angels is a group for parents/carers to bring their newborns and up to pre-school children for some fun activities.

Children can enjoy a variety of toys, craft activity, singing, story and prayers (see more!) while you have an opportunity to meet up for a chat. There are facilities available for babies.

We run throughout the year except for Bank Holidays and Christmas, on Monday mornings 10am – 11.30am. There is a suggested donation of £1.50 per family including refreshments.

Children are a very important part of the church family and are warmly welcomed.
The children meet each Sunday morning, except the first Sunday in the month, when we join in the Family Service.

On other weeks we leave the main service during the second hymn to enjoy some different activities. We rejoin the service in time for Communion.

We currently cater for the following age groups:

- crèche (mainly for babies)
- age 2/3ish – 7/8
- age 7/8 – upwards

These groupings are very flexible depending on individual circumstances, eg siblings wanting to stay together.

The activities take place in the cloisters area, immediately outside with the crèche group using the little room.  All groups are staffed by volunteer parents. Children learn about the teachings of Jesus through Bible stories, creative activities, songs and games. There are also plenty of toys to keep the children amused. Parents/carers are welcome to join their children.  Children may be given activity sheets to take home, which show what they have been learning and provide ideas for parents so they can work with their children throughout the week.

Please print out and complete the attached form to let us know your child’s/children’s details.

Please contact Bridget Lumb or any of the leaders for further information.

During Family Services parents are very welcome to use the equipment available in the room off the cloisters.
